How Time Flies...

It still amazes me how time flies!! Friday was my daughter's 17th birthday (my son's was just a few months ago...he turned 15) and it makes me teary-eyed just thinking how the time seems to slip away from you. Just yesterday they were 4 and 2 and my husband and I were their "everything". They still called us Mommy and Daddy. We were still "cool" and they actually WANTED to be around us. Now, they are 17 and 15 and sometimes can fit us into their busy schedules. LOL!! No, seriously I can't complain....I have two WONDERFUL children and I cherish them EVERYDAY!!!! Love you guys!!

Yet Another Giveaway...

Please go over to My Yellow Farmhouse...not only is she and her husband celebrating their 29th Wedding Anniversary , which is HUGE enough. She is also having a AWESOME giveaway!! Take a look...

A Season of Change...

As I sit around and think about all of the changes that the Fall brings...
~The color of the leaves
~The cool crispness in the air
~The shorts and t- shirts to jeans and sweaters.
~The jack-o-laterns, the candy and the trick or treaters
~The turkey, the dressing and the pumpkin pies

The most important and the biggest change on my mind has to do with something that that my family has be going thru for almost SIX years. You see, to try to make LONG story short (and to spare you all ALOT of details), my husband got injured (his leg was crushed) at work approximately SIX years ago and has be unable to work since.

During this time he has had to have 16 surgeries , MANY hours of physical therapy and much more pain than one person should have to endure. Not to mention the bouts of depression, etc. (on both of our parts). His due to the feeling of helplessness, etc. Mine to the extra pressures of work and home.
So as hard as it was for our lives to be turned upside down and losing a certain sense of security. I am happy to announce my husband was offically released to go back to work and has been a "working man" again for TWO days. And we couldn't be happier!!

Not that working or having a job defines us as humans. We both know that is much deeper than that. But I think we are just so happy to finally have some "closure" to a "not so happy" time in our and our children's lives.
I just keep praying and trusting that God continues to look out for our family...as I know he will!!

My Secret Love Affair with......Paula Deen!!

Hee Hee!! Got your attention didn't I!?!?!?

I don't know about any of you but I have had a long term secret (ok, ok...maybe in my house it's NOT so secret!!) love affair with Paula Deen for years now. Basically ever since she first aired on the Food Network. So needless to say, stopping by her restaurant The Lady and Sons in Savannah, GA was a "HAVE TO" stop on our way to our family vacation to Hilton Head, SC this past summer.

The food was wonderful!! But her peach cobbler was even better. So with Fall being in the air. And peaches being in season. I thought I would share the perfect (or at least in our family's opinion) Peach Cobbler recipe (courtesy of Paula deen of course!!)

Peach Cobbler

serves 8 to 10

8 tabelspoons (1 stick) butter

1 cup sugar

3/4 cup self-rising flour

3/4 cup milk

1 (28 once) can sliced peaches in syrup, undrained

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Put butter in deep baking dish and place in oven to melt. Mix sugar and flour; add milk slowly to prevent lumping. Pour over melted butter. Do not stir. Spoon fruit on top, gently pouring in syrup. Still do not stir; batter will rise to top during baking. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes. Good with fresh whipped cream or vanilla ice cream.

Blessed Nests

Please go and say "Hi" to Shannon. She has a awesome blog with GREAT ideas and is having her 100th post giveaway!!

My name is Carrie and I am a blog addict....

I know, I know...you are asking how can I be a blog addict and I have only posted a few times.

Well, it is not my own blog I am addicted to. It is ALL of yours!! I have a problem...and I think there is some sort of phone number I should be able to call!! LOL!!

Seriously, I have some serious can't get my big butt off the couch after I finally sit down after work so I am getting nothing done around my house blues because I can't seem to pull myself away from my laptop.

Don't get me wrong...I LOVE all of the decorating ideas (and advice) you all have to offer. Especailly the posts with pictures. That's why I am addicted because I enjoy looking at all of your ideas a little too much!!

I sit and gather all of those ideas and think of how I need to decorate this room or change that room. But then thats about as far as it goes...

I think that I REALLY need to start putting some of those ideas and advice to better use.

So here is the million dollar question?

How do you all balance your "blog" time and "home" time? Do you set yourself a certain time limit? Or do you just have more will power than me?

P.S. I have heard a lot about "bloglines" and "google reader". Is that where they tell you when your favorite blogs have been updated? If so, do any of you know how or where I can find these? Maybe they can help me cut back on some of my blog time!!
