Things That I Love...

This morning, I was wandering over in Tammy's neck of the woods at Country Girl At Home. And she had such a fun post!! She had joined in a "Things That I Love" game and she had been assigned the letter "H". She came up with some really great answers. She also said that if anybody would like to join in, that she would assign each of them a letter. So, I decided to join in all the fun and Tammy assigned me the letter "B". So, if you feel like having a little fun, head on over and I am sure she will assign you one as well.

Let's see, 10 Things That I Love that begin with the letter "B"....

1)Both Of My Children
I LOVE my kids more than ANYTHING!! Nuff said...

2)"Big Daddy"
"Big Daddy" have been married since I was 18 and he was 19. We have been thru SO much together. Both good times and bad. But definitely more good than bad. He is my BFF and I love him very much!! Even though we got married young, we both knew at a young age that we were made for one another. He makes me laugh and smile and mad all at the same time. He KNOWS me!! Sometimes, better than I know myself. He supports me in all that I do. And most of all he loves me and in this great big scary world, that's EVERYTHING!!

3)Being At Home
I LOVE this more than anything!! I am the biggest homebody you could meet. Especially, this time of the year when it is snowy and cold. BUURRR!! Nothing makes me more happy then being at home with my family, snuggling up playing a game or watching a good movie or just being at home spending good QT together!!

4)Banana Splits
YUMMO!!

5)Baskets
I love baskets of all shapes and sizes. I think they are a very pretty way to store everyday items.

6)Babies
Who DOESN'T love babies!?!?!?

7)Being A Mom
This one has to be my GREATEST joy!! I seriously think this was what I was put on this earth for. I absolutely LOVE my kids!! And I absolutely LOVE being a Mom!! And may I add the fact that I have some pretty great kids. "Miss Priss" will be 18 in September and will going away to college in the Fall. And I have to admit, my heart aches EVERY.SINGLE.TIME I even think about it. And "Muscles" will be turning 16 in July and will be getting ready to drive. Gosh, where does the time go?!?!? Wasn't it just yesterday that they were babies!! Ok, now I am getting ready to cry!!

8)Blogging
Ok, this one is a newer LOVE addiction. But in the short time I have been blogging. I have not only found so much inspiration. Not only with recipes, crafts and home decor. But just inspiration in general. Between the stories of joy and heartache we each have shared. It makes me feel that we aren't alone in this journey we all call being a Wife and/or Mother!! And that there is ALWAYS somebody that will understand what we are each going thru!!

9)Beaches
This past summer my family took our first "real" family vacation to Hilton Head Island, SC and we had the BEST time!! Definitely made some lifetime memories!!

10)Bubble Baths
Bubble baths are my way of relaxation!! Whether I am not feeling well or just plain old stressed out. A good old bubble bath always seems to take my troubles away!!

Snowed In!?!?!?

This is what is going on outside as I type. Snow, snow and more snow!! And it is OK by me. Normally, I would welcome snow only on the weekends. Praying that it doesn't come during the work week and that I don't have to drive in the mess during rush hour traffic on my commute to work. But since I took a vacation day tomorrow, I am all for the snow. The more the better!!

The way I see it, being snowed in will give me (and hopefully the kids too) the excuse to stay home tomorrow, spend some together and just hang out!!

I seriously don't know what has been up with me lately. It just seems like it has been getting harder and harder to get up and go to work each morning. And all I can think about it how I wish I could be a stay at home Mom. And not have to work outside of the home. But as some of you may know, that just isn't possible at the moment. You see, about 6 years ago my husband got injured at work. His leg was broken and his ankle crushed.

Since then, he has endured 16 surgeries, with more to come. But about 3-4 months ago he was finally released from the doctor to go back to work after being home on Workmen's Compensation and Disabilty for almost 6 years. A LONG time!! And even though, this has been a huge blessing, "Big Daddy" and myself both know that this may be short-lived and the reality of his leg not holding up is a big possibilty!!

So the idea of me quiting my job and staying home is just not going to happen anytime soon. Not to mention the fact that I do have a decent job, especially in these trying economic times. So I really should be appreciative!! But I still can't help but to wish that I could stay home and take care of my family the way they really should be.

Not saying that us working Mom's can't take care of our families properly. But as all of us Moms know, whether we work outside of the home or within, taking care of our families can be both physically and emotionally tiring. Not that it isn't worth EVERY moment of it but sometimes I just wish I had the time and energy to give my home and family 110% that they deserve instead of worrying about work while I am at home and vice versa. Does this make sense? Or am I just a rambling mess?

Anyway, for all of you Moms that may or not be snowed in within the next couple days. Make some cocoa, snuggle up to a kid or two and savor those moments. And just remember, we are all in this together!!

Hugs!! Carrie♥

Sunday Supper...And A Little Prim Decor!

In yesterday's post, I was telling all of you how much inspiration and ideas I have received from all of you fellow bloggers. Well, tonight's Sunday Supper was a recipe that I got from Farmchick over at Fresh From The Farm....Mostaccioli Italiano!!!! Mama Mia is it good!!

MOSTACCIOLI ITALIANO

1 pound Mostaccioli- cooked per directions
1 pound extra lean ground beef -- browned
1 small onion -- browned in with the beef
2 - 26 oz. jars pasta sauce
1 - 14.5 oz. can diced tomatoes
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cracked pepper
1 cup fat-free cottage cheese
1 1/2 cups mozzarella cheese
1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese

In a large bowl, combine pasta, meat, onions, sauce, tomatoes, cottage cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese. Mix well.

Spoon into a greased 13x9 baking dish. cover. Bake 45 minutes at 350 degrees or until hot and bubbly. Uncover; top with remaining mozzarella cheese and parmesan cheese. Bake 10 minutes longer.

Take out of the oven and you have a hearty pasta dish. Goes great with a nice green salad and a dish of fruit! Everyone will love this dish so give it a try tonight!

And for all of you that read yesterday's post, you will also know that I am attempting my first Prim Stitchery. So far, I am pretty pleased with what I got accomplished. Between last night and today, I have probably got 90% of it completed. Except, some how I misplaced the rest of my black thread. I looked EVERYWHERE!!! Who knows what I did with it...so until I make another trip to Hobby Lobby, my stitchery new addiction is on hold. But here is a pic of what I got finished so far. Tell me what you think!!

BTW, I am sure you all can tell from the pic that I was so excited to get a jump start last night, that I forgot to tea dye it prior to stitching. So, can any of you tell me the best way of tea dying after I complete it??

Anyway, I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend!! I know I did....

Hugs, Carrie♥

World of Blogging

Since entering the world of blogging, I have gotten so much inspiration from many of you. Whether that be some awesome recipes that have since become some new family favorites, tips for organzing my home or just some beautiful decorating ideas.

Back in this post, I had try to explain how I have a love for all different kinds of decor. I love everything from French Country to Prim. I can honestly say, if a professional Interior Decorator were to ever to enter my home, I would probably get a big fat F for my consistancy in one particular style. My home seems to vary from room to room. All I can say is that I like what I lke!! LOL!! Like I said before, I'm a lil' bit country and a lil' bit rock n' roll.

But here lately, I have really been bitten by the Prim bug again. I think it has also been my favorite. And thanks to a few of my wonderful newfound blogging friends, I have also found the insipration and confidence to attempt to make one or two of my own Prim decorations.

So this morning, before my weekly grocery shopping trip to Wally World, I made a quick detour to good ol' Hobby Lobby and picked up this...

Yep, all the goodies to make my own first Prim Stichery. Which, I have been working all day on it. And I have to admit, is almost finished. What can I say, not only has it been very realxing....it is very addicting!!

Hopefully, if I can finished it up tommorow. I will share some pics!!

Wish me luck!!

And The Winner Is.......Drumroll Please!!!!!!

First off, I just wanted to give everybody that participated in my 50th post giveaway a BIG THANK YOU!!!! I not only appreciated receiving but also enjoyed reading all of your comments.

Secondly, since I am still new to this whole blogging thing, I think I may of confused myself (which isn't very hard to do) and others as to where to leave the comment so I went ahead and included everybody and anybody that actually commented on any of my posts since the announcement of the giveaway.

I felt like I may of confused a few of you since I had mentioned the giveaway numerous times and I think it got confusing on which post to leave the comment. So, I apologize for any confusion I may of caused!! Seriously, how many more times do you think I can say a confused, confusing or confusion in this one paragraph!?!?! LOL!!

Ok, enough rambling...down to business!! May I have the envelope please? And the winner is.....

Janae from CozyCoops Corner

Congrats Janae!! I will be leaving you a comment on your blog!!

Thanks again everybody!! This was fun!!

The Beverly Hillbillies and Baby Chickens!!

Ok, I know you are probably wondering what in the world does The Beverly Hillbillies have to do with Baby Chickens!!

Well, last night for dinner I decided to try something different for once. Maybe something a little more "refined", if you will, then our normal everyday Hamburger Helper. Don't get me wrong we still love our old faithful HH. Heck, if it wasn't for that "Big Daddy" would of starved our first year of marriage. Seriously.

So, since I was off yesterday in celabration of Martin Luther King and had the extra time, I decided I would make this...

~Cornish Hens
~Stuffing
~Mashed Potatoes with Gravy
~Green Bean Casserole

I was so proud of my menu, until "Muscles" came in and said "Do you really expect us to eat baby chickens?" Ok, so much for some culture. All, I could envision was our last name being changed to the Clampetts!!

So, after a little convincing from "Big Daddy" and myself, we finally get "Muscles" to try it. And believe it or not, he seems to enjoy it. Which makes my heart smile. Until, "Miss Priss" walks in from work and I tell her that her plate is in the mircrowave and as she opens the door to the microwave and looks at her plate, she turns to me and says "We are having baby chickens?"

Look out Beverly Hills here we come.....

Football Talk

I thought I would share a conversation that happen yesterday between "Big Daddy" and myself while watching the playoff game.

Big Daddy: I am glad to see that Kurt Warner got the Cardinals to the Superbowl.

Me: I thought you pretty much thought he was a traitor since leaving the Rams?

Big Daddy: No, I like him...it was his wife that I didn't care for and who caused all of the problems.

Me: Yeah, but don't you think he is kinda arrogant?

Big Daddy: How so?

Me: Well, didn't he kinda have the additude like he was the one that took the Rams to the Superbowl?

Big Daddy: He did!!

Me: Seriously? Doesn't it take the whole team? You know how the saying goes, there is no "I" in teamwork!!

Big Daddy: Yeah, but the is an "I" in win!!

NUFF SAID!!!!!!!!

A Little "Easter" Eye Candy (Hee Hee!! Get it? Easter.Candy...Thank You, Thank You Very Much!!)

Aren't these the cutest!?!?! I know, I know...you are probably thinking I am CRAZY. Easter? It isn't even Valentine's Day yet and this CRAZY woman is talking about Easter. But "Big Daddy" and I had a few errands to run yesterday before "Date Night" so I had asked him to stop at Old Time Pottery (Oh yeah...we also went to Marshall's) so I could look at the Valentine's Day decorations. And believe it or not, there wasn't one speck of it in the store. (Or at least not where I saw) but there was quite a few really cute things for Easter.

So, what is a woman supposed to do? Pass up cute Easter decor just because it is still -10 degrees outside and we still have months before the Easter bunny comes. HECK NO!! She puts them in her cart and shoots her hubby the "don't say a word" look whenever he looks at her like she has lost her mind!! LOL!!

~Easter Tree ~Old Time Pottery ~$4.99
~Easter Egg Ribbon ~Old Time Pottery ~$.69 cents
~Little Wooden Bunny (holding the carrot) ~Old Time Pottery ~$1.99
~Floppy-Eared Bunny ~Marshall's ~$5.99

Date Night Update

♥First and foremost, I would like to ask all of you to continue to pray for Baby Harper and her family!! Baby Harper is a very sick little girl who is proving to be a fighter but still needs all of our prayers!!♥

♥Secondly, please pray for my brother, sister-in-law and my two precious neices. My sister-in-law had to bury her brother today. He was only 55 years old and had lost his 7 year battle to Leukemia this past Tuesday. We all know he is at peace now, but it is still a tragic loss♥

And last but not least...for all of you following my blog, tonight was "Date Night". WOO HOO!! What a fun time we had!!

Which I have to admit, I found myself feeling guilty for!! After attending the funeral this morning and having the Stamp family on my mind all day today, it felt a little strange going and trying to have a good time. But with the year anniversary of my Mother-in-law's death, I think tonight was exactly what "Big Daddy" needed!!

I was so excited, I even brought the camera along. Sorry, I didn't get any pictures of dinner or the actual show. With the show, it had been a while since I had been to the Fox Theatre and I wasn't sure what their camera policy was. And being new to this whole blogging thing...I kinda forgot the camera in the car at dinner. Ooops!!

But here are a few pictures...but PLEASE be nice!! I am telling you I am the LEAST photogenic person I know. Usually, my eyes are closed or I end up having a really goofy expression on my face. But since I realized I have NEVER posted a picture of myself on my blog, I figured it was time to bite the bullet.

Needless to say, this pic was the best one of the bunch. (BTW, just ignore the gum hanging out of my mouth!! I am SUCH the lady!! I am telling you, I make my Mama proud!!)

Here is "Big Daddy" and myself getting ready to pull out of the driveway...

On our way here...

To see...

And what a good show it was. I think I even peed my pants!! Seriously, it was such a nice evening. I give this "Date Night" a A+!!

Prayer Request

I prayed for this child, and the LORD has granted me what I asked of him. (1 Samuel 1:27)

I am asking all of you to please get down on your knees tonight and pray for Kelly, her husband Scott and their little girl Harper.

Kelly gave birth earlier this evening and Baby Harper is having a hard time. They have flown her to the Children's Hospital in Little Rock, so they need all of our prayers!!

Big cedar....and ANOTHER Giveaway Reminder!!

Isn't this picture beautiful?!?!? I KNOW!! This is where "Big Daddy", "Miss Priss", "Muscles" and myself will be staying over Spring Break. I am SO excited!!

It is a resort near Branson, MO. called Big Cedar and it looks absolutely breathtaking. I had been researching places to stay for our upcoming Branson trip for weeks now and after reading about Big Cedar over at Cozycoops Corner and Back Porch Musings, I knew this was the spot for us!!

Thanks Again Girls!!

Date Night....and Giveaway Reminder!!

I am SO excited!! This coming Saturday, my husband and I are going out for a "Date Night". I know this may not sound too exciting to some of you but for us it's kinda new territory.

You see when the kids were younger, my husband was in the military so we either too afraid to leave them with anybody (since we weren't around any family), didn't have the extra $$$ or we were too tired (kids were only 22 months apart) to go on too many "Date Nights". And as time went on, our busy lives got the best of us.

So, now that the kids are 17 and 15 and they have more of a social life than we do. LOL!! Not to mention, the fact that we are starting to realize that pretty soon it will just be the two of us again. We figure we better start finding some common interests, so we have decided we are going to start having weekly "Date Nights".

And guess where we are going this Saturday!?!?!?

Yep, we are going to see Larry The Cable Guy LIVE!! LOVE this guy...TOO funny!!!!!!

NOW take your total and find out which Movie Star you are:

(10-17 points) You are MADONNA:

You are wild and crazy and you know it. You know how to have fun, but you may take it to extremes. You know what you are doing though, and are much in control of your own life. People don't always see things your way, but that doesn't mean that you should do away with your beliefs. Try to remember that your wild spirit can lead to hurting yourself and others.

(18-26 points) You are DORIS DAY:
You are fun, friendly, and popular! You are a real crowd pleaser. You have probably been out on the town your share of times, yet you come home with the values that your mother taught you. (35-42 points) You are GRACE KELLY:

You are a lover. Romance, flowers, and wine are all you need to enjoy yourself You are serious about all commitments and are a family person. You call your Mom every Sunday, and never forget a Birthday. Don't let your passion for romance get confused with the real thing.

(43-50 points) You are KATHERINE HEPBURN:

You are smart, a real thinker. Every situation is approached with a plan. You are very healthy in mind and body. You don't take crap from anyone You have only a couple of individuals that you consider 'real friends'. You teach strong family values. Keep your feet planted in them, but don't overlook a bad situation when it does happen.

(51-60 points) You are ELIZABETH TAYLOR:

Everyone is in awe of you. You know what you want and how to get it. You have more friends than you know what to do with. Your word is your bond. Everyone knows when you say something it is money in th e bank. You attract the opposite sex. Your intelligence overwhelms most. Your memory is the next thing to photographic. Everyone admires you because you are so considerate and lovable. You know how to enjoy life and treat people right.

So according to this quiz...I am a sucker for love and romance. And considering everything that makes up my 50th post giveaway has to do with Valentine's Day, I think this quiz hit it head on!!

Heavenly Rhythm

Aren't these two girls some of the prettiest girls you have ever seen?? They are my cousins Kristen (the one on the left) and Holly (the one on the right).

Some of you may remember me mentioning the other day that I was going to my cousins wedding. Well, it was for my cousin Kristen. And as beautiful of a day it was for her, it was also a sad one. You see, back on August 13th, 2005, we all lost my cousin Holly in a tragic jet skiing accident.

But no matter how much heartache and despair Holly's death has brought my Aunt, Uncle and cousins (they also have a brother Matt) they are the strongest and most positive people I have ever met. They not only have faith in their Lord, but also in one another.

Not only was Holly an inspiration to all during her time here on earth. But she continues to bring us all such joy, inspiration and faith in God. She was not only passionate about her faith while she was here with us but passionate about life as well. She was an excellent student, she played volleyball and was an avid dancer....it was her passion!!

As well as it was Kristen's passion...so a few years ago as Kristen was in college and trying to figure out what direction she wanted to take with her career. She turned to her biggest inspiration....Holly. And that was when she decidd to open up her dance studio, Heavenly Rhythm, in honor of her sister and best friend Holly Reeb.

HR=Holly Reeb
HR=Heavenly Rhythm

So just remember even when we may be in our darkest hour and we may question why God may do the things he does...it is thru him, our faith and our greastest inspirations that we find hope!!

In Loving Memory Holly Reeb January 28th, 1989 - August 13th, 2005

Hakuna Matata.....

Hakuna Matata!
What a wonderful phrase
Hakuna Matata!
Ain't no passing craze

It means no worries
For the rest of your days
It's our problem-free philosophy
Hakuna Matata!

You would think after driving cross country (back in 1994) with my 3 and 1 year old listening to this soundtrack EVERY.SINGLE.SECOND of the trip, this song would be BURNED into my brain FOREVER!!! And whenever I am having a day like I have been for the past few days, I would remember these oh so famous lines and break out into song!!!

***UPDATE - I just wanted to give a quick update to all that commented on my last post. Thanks so much for the encouraging words. I also wanted to let you all know that I am feeling much better today. "Muscles" wasn't able to get into the Orthopedic Surgeon today, not until Wednesday but hopefully we will know more then. And as far as the "issue" at work...nothing more was said today. Granted, my immediate supervisor called in sick today but still our manager was back from vacation and nothing was said, so I am really hoping it all blew over!!***

One, Two, Three Strikes Your Out!!!!!

***WARNING WHINY POST***But ALL comments and advice welcomed!!

Ok, Ok...I PROMISED myself this year was "our year". It is supposed to be my family's year of positive changes. Fresh new starts, fresh new additudes!! So I hate to admit this, but so far I am not convinced it is (or will be). Well, at least not after today....

It started off OK, I guess. A typical work day. But shortly after arriving to work today, I received an email from my boss regarding an error made on my part last week. Of course, I think it is a "silly" error. But WHAT.EVER!!!! An error is an error, none the less!! Of course after he originally asked me about it he started joking with me to "get my boxes ready", etc.

I know he was trying to make light of the situation, but the error was and still is bothering me. I am literally still sitting here (hours later, I might add) with a knot in my stomach. You see, I am not sure who is all aware of the error and I guess I am afraid that management may call me in on it whenever they all get back from vacation on Monday. Of course, my boss said nothing to this effect but being the paranoid loony bird I can be sometimes, I am worried!!

Not that I think I will lose my job but in this day and age you never know. And I have been there to long to try to start over now!! But I think what is really sad about all of this is, that I wish I wouldn't have to work!! And that if or when they call me in on it I could just tell them where to shove their job. You know just like the songs goes...'take this job and shove it!!' I know this doesn't make much sense does it!?!?! I hate my job, but I am afraid to lose it!!

But you see, due to unforseen circumstances (my husband being injured at work and having to be on Workmen's Compensation for almost the past 6 years)I was the only one working up until about 3 months ago. So, I am the sole provider of our family's Medical / Dental insurance...so even though I long EVERYDAY to be a stay at home Mom, it just isn't possible at the moment. So needless to say, I REALLY need my job!! So, please pray for me that this little "mistake" will all blow over!!

There was STRIKE ONE against the new year. Not to big of a deal right!?!?!?

Now on to STRIKE TWO...

So, around 12:00pm I am sitting at my desk trying to recover from STRIKE ONE and my phone rings. It is my my 17 YO daughter "Miss Priss" calling to tell me that she thinks that my 15 YO son "Muscles" has broken his ankle. ARE YOU FREAKIN' KIDDING ME!?!?!?!? You see, what I left out regarding hubby's "Big Daddy's" accident at work is that he had his ankle and leg crushed at work. So for the last 6 or so years he has endured 16 surgeries (one being a complete ankle fusion) and still needs at least two more (knee replacements) and is still not much better. So of all bones for "Muscles" to break his ankle was the LAST one I wanted to hear!! But guess what....after HOURS in the ER, it is definitely broke and he sees the Orthopetic Surgeon on Monday!!

Yipee...STRIKE TWO!!

So now, as I am sitting here typing this, I have to wonder when will STRIKE THREE happen!! When will the next ball drop!! I just have to wonder no matter how much I pray and try to stay positive...is this really going to be "our year"!?!?!? Because quite frankly, with all of "Big Daddy's" surgeries, the passing of my MIL, the heartache and depression that both of these brought into our home and other obstacles this family has had endure in 2008, I am not sure how much more heartache this family can handle in 2009!!

I know, I know. I can't look at things this way. But it is SO hard sometimes to stay upbeat and positive. Especially when others around you aren't. So in saying all of this...tomorrow is a new day. A day of fresh start, new beginnings. Let's just cross our fingers that it won't include any errors at work (espically since I am off!! LOL!!) or broken ankles!!

Anyway, on a lighter note...tomorrow is my cousin's wedding. Which should be a lot of fun!! But I guess with "Muscles" ankle and "Big Daddy" not feeling well, it will be just me and "Miss Priss" going. A Girl's Night!! Maybe just what the doctored ordered!!
